He has extensive experience in rhinoplasty, cosmetic surgery of the aging face, facial volumetric surgery, minimally invasive endoscopic techniques, and skin rejuvenation with peels, lasers, and injectable fillers. These procedures were undertaken in one of the biggest hospitals in Vietnam – the National Otolaryngology Hospital – and this allowed for multiple local surgeons to come watch the surgery live as it was being performed, and also listen to evening lectures to further teach these reconstructive principles. She was confident and beautiful even before her surgery, and most laypeople would not understand why she would seek rhinoplasty. She, however, like many people, was bothered by a slight dorsal hump, a slightly droopy/soft nasal tip, and wide nostrils. She felt all of those features were accentuated when she smiled, and detracted from her eyes, smile, and overall appearance. The photos above, and in the document attached, show her personal recovery journey as demonstrated through selfies taken at various stages during her recovery. At one week, you can appreciate a better profile. But marked doughiness/roundness/elevation of the tip. Her smile is stiff, and her cheeks and lip are swollen. She is also among the most bruised patients Dr. Nayak has seen at 1 week. By 1 month, most of the cheek and lip swelling has resolved, and the nasal tip shape and position are much more natural. Swelling of the tip continues to improve, and is really fading by the 3.5 month photo. The coordinator will then gather a thorough health history. This includes information about past surgeries and hospitalizations. All of these details are shared in advance to prepare patients for the consultation. From there, assuming you would be ready to schedule the formal consultation with Dr. Nayak, a fee of $1,000 is collected in advance to secure the time on the schedule. This fee may be applied to surgery. #### THE FORMAL CONSULTATION Consultations with Dr. Nayak may be done via Zoom or in-person. During the consultation, you will have an opportunity to meet with your Surgical Consultation Coordinator and to speak with Dr. Nayak one-on-one. Dr. Nayak will want to hear your cosmetic and surgical goals directly from you. Even though your coordinator will have already shared this information with him from your initial communication, Dr. Nayak feels it is very important to hear you describe your concerns in your own words, as he often finds value in the nuances of your descriptions. After speaking with you, Dr. Nayak will then provide you with a surgical treatment plan based on your needs. Your Coordinator will then review with you the quote(s) for cost, as well as any applicable checklists detailing how we prepare for surgery, what the day of surgery is like, as well as potential risks and complications. If you do choose to do a zoom consultation, it is important to note that Dr. Nayak will likely ask you to speak, move your face, or turn your head in certain ways, which will aid him in the virtual physical exam. To help him see clearly, we ask that you position yourself in an area with favorable lighting from the front. Dr. Nayak will use your previously-submitted images, and sometimes screenshots from the Zoom call, to draw up his suggestions and plans. #### RESERVING A SURGICAL DATE After the consultation, a surgical date may be secured with a 20% deposit to hold the time on the calendar; this deposit becomes non-refundable 6 weeks prior to surgery. The pre-operative visit is scheduled 2 weeks prior to surgery and can be handled by phone if you live far away. All of the necessary paperwork for this visit is emailed in advance. The duration of your stay in-town varies based on the procedure. Patients undergoing a deep plane extended facelift with deep necklift +/- brow lift or more, are required to remain in town for 10-days following surgery, as multiple follow-up visits take place within that time frame. #### LOCAL ACCOMMODATIONS If you are considering accommodations for your surgical stay, please refer to our specific list below. If you are having your surgery at an outside facility, you may be asked to arrive earlier. You should have nothing to eat or drink (not even water, candy, or gum) after midnight the night before your procedure. If Dr. Nayak prescribed antibiotics, oral sedatives, or if you take blood pressure medication in the mornings, you may take these with a small sip of clear water. You will need an adult driver on the day of your surgery to bring you and to take you home. Your companion may wait in our comfortable reception area, watching TV, reading, and enjoying coffee, soda, and snacks. Alternatively, if your companion wishes to leave a cellular telephone number, we can call him or her with updates and also at the conclusion of the procedure. Upon your arrival, Dr. Nayak’s staff will greet you and review your medical history, looking for any new changes since your initial consultation. You may also bring your own iPod or CD’s, or listen to our choice of soothing music. Painless blood pressure and oxygen monitors will be placed on your arm and finger, and massaging air-filled stockings will be placed on your legs and thighs to encourage excellent circulation while you are lying down. Dr. Nayak and his staff will then perform one final “time-out” aloud to ensure they are about to embark on the appropriate procedure on the appropriate patient. Once numb, the majority of patients actually fall asleep intermittently. On the day after surgery, you will need a ride back to Dr. Nayak’s office, where he will remove your dressing and examine your face to make sure you are healing properly. She started at Nayak Plastic Surgery and Avani Derm Spa as a Receptionist in 2020 and transitioned to the Administrative team. Sam loves helping out wherever needed. Outside of work, she loves to hike, kayak and hang out with family and friends! --- ## Sarah Norman, BSN, RN **Type:** Team Member **Title:** Surgical Nurse Sarah graduated from Maryville University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2019. She began her nursing career in Orthopedic Surgery before transitioning to the Cardiovascular Operating Room in 2021, where she specialized in vascular, open-heart, and thoracic surgeries. During her career, she also worked as a travel nurse in Myrtle Beach, serving on an open-heart surgery team. In addition to her OR experience, she has worked in the Cardiovascular PACU. Sarah is passionate about the operating room environment and especially enjoys the scrub role, where attention to detail, organization, anticipation, and teamwork are essential to a successful outcome. She is excited to learn the specialty of Plastic Surgery and to be part of the team! Her priorities are to develop a comprehensive plan by combining injectables and synergistic skin treatments and creating an open and comfortable environment along the way. Shannon has worked in the medical and spa field for 10 years and also has an associates degree in business. --- ## Shauna Rupp **Type:** Team Member **Title:** Medical Assistant Shauna has been with Nayak Plastic Surgery since 2018 and has held multiple roles as both an Esthetician and Medical Assistant. She is passionate about the cosmetic industry from every angle and she truly believes that loving the skin you’re in is vital for whole self wellness. With her background in Esthetics, over fifteen years experience in the beauty industry, and her knowledge of medical cosmetics and plastic surgery, she enthusiastically assists our Nurse Injectors and is ready to help every patient feel amazing and supported during their visit. --- ## Tim Kaplan, BSN, RN **Type:** Team Member **Title:** Aesthetic Nurse & Injection Specialist Tim Kaplan BSN, RN graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Biological Sciences and from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) with a BS in Nursing, graduating with honors. He began his career in aesthetics as a spa coordinator while in nursing school and later transitioned to an aesthetic nurse injector after earning his license. In addition to his aesthetic work, Tim also gained valuable experience working bedside before fully committing to aesthetics in 2020. Most recently, he served as a regional trainer for Merz Aesthetics, providing hundreds of trainings to injectors over the past two years --- ## Whitney Fogel **Type:** Team Member **Title:** Consult Coordinator As one of Dr. Nayak's consultation coordinators, Whitney is the first point of contact for patients when they reach out to our practice. The focus of her role is to act as their liaison, guiding them through our process leading into surgery. Whitney finds her role to be very meaningful and fulfilling. She is enthusiastic about getting to know each patient, and enjoys connecting with new people everyday. It is important to Whitney to remain knowledgeable, informed and up to date regarding all treatments and surgical procedures. Whitney is skilled and educated in preparing and evaluating patients for surgery, injectables, device-based procedures, and derm-spa treatments that we offer. Her background as a makeup artist, with over 20 years of experience in the beauty and esthetics industry, is what has ultimately led Whitney to find her passion in working for Dr. Nayak. She feels very grateful to play a vital role in helping patients gain a greater sense of well being and confidence. --- ## Yadi Sullivan **Type:** Team Member **Title:** Medical Assistant Yadi joined Nayak Plastic Surgery in December 2018. She obtained her Medical Assistant degree from SLCH in 2011 and before joining the team, she worked in pediatrics. With over 10 years of customer service experience, Yadi will gladly guide you through your next appointment, answer any questions that you may have and assist our nurse injectors during your procedures! ---
